NEW YORK. Dominican Foreign Minister Miguel Vargas and United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres held a meeting to discuss the political situation in Latin America and the prospects of the Dominican Republic.

During the meeting, Guterres positively pondered the direction and strength of the economy and social development currently exhibited in the Caribbean country, and highlighted the management of President Danilo Medina.

Vargas and Guterres, old friends and members of the Socialist International (IS), jointly analyzed the progress Haiti has made in recent years and discussed the alternatives discussed at the international level on the political crisis affecting the Republic Bolivariana of Venezuela.

They also discussed the Assembly that is scheduled to hold the world body by mid-September this year, which is expected to attend the majority of Latin American presidents.

Gutiérrez received the Dominican Chancellor in a special audience in his office at United Nations headquarters and officially received an invitation from President Danilo Medina to visit the Dominican Republic, preferably in the second half of the year. Credits D Free
